Senior year moves faster than anyone warns you. Before you know it, your senior is stepping into their next big adventure. The portraits from this session are the ones you’ll hang on your wall, display on your coffee table, and the ones your senior will be genuinely grateful for long after this season has passed.
At Burton Photography, every session is planned around who your senior actually is. Their personality, their style, the things that make them one of a kind. So the portraits come back looking genuinely like them, not like everyone else’s.
Jonathan and Bonnie were named National Senior Portrait Photographer of the Year in 2023 and 2026 (SYNC - Senior and Youth National Conference). Fewer than a handful of photographers in the country have received the award more than once.

An Experience That’s Completely Planned for You
By the time session day arrives, everything is already figured out. Locations, outfits, timing, all planned in advance so you can show up relaxed and just enjoy it. We handle the rest.
Two photographers at every session means twice the creative energy. Jonathan and Bonnie work seamlessly as a team, bringing two perspectives and two sets of ideas to every session in a way that makes the whole experience feel relaxed, fun, and genuinely collaborative.
Sessions run two to three hours and take us wherever your senior’s story lives. That might be the Blue Ridge Mountains, a downtown streetscape, a favorite bookstore, an antique shop, or somewhere completely personal to them. We’ve spent decades creating portraits in every kind of setting, and we know how to make any of them beautiful.
It Starts with a Conversation
Your session begins with a complimentary consultation by phone, video conference, at the studio, or in your home. We want to know your senior before anything else. Who they are, what they care about, what they want their portraits to feel like.
From there, everything is planned. Locations that fit their personality. Outfit guidance so session day runs smoothly. Whether your senior is an athlete, an artist, an outdoors type, or someone with a very specific creative vision, we build the session around them.
Seeing Your Portraits for the First Time
About a week or two after your session, we’ll schedule your viewing appointment. Local clients come to the studio, where we project your proofs on a big screen so you can see them large, beautiful, and side by side. If you’re coming from farther away, we can set up a video conference viewing appointment instead.
It makes choosing your favorites easy. Happy tears are completely normal.
We walk you through every decision so nothing feels overwhelming. Since this is your one chance to view all of your proofs, we ask that everyone who will be part of the decision plan to attend the appointment.
Your Senior Portrait Investment
Your $790 booking fee secures your date on our calendar and includes a $600 portrait credit toward your finished portraits.
Every senior session includes:
- Complimentary planning consultation
- 2 to 3 hour portrait session with two photographers
- 75 to 100 proofs at your viewing appointment
- Viewing and ordering appointment at our studio (or via video conference call)
- Delivery of your finished portraits, with in-home installation available for wall art
- Lifetime guarantee on all portrait products
- A companion digital file with every portrait you purchase, suitable for printing up to 8x10
Almost every client leaves with a Portrait Collection Box or Book, a beautifully designed collection of their favorite portraits, made to be lived with every day. Many clients also add framed canvases or metal prints for their walls. Portrait products are available at a range of investment levels, and your $600 credit applies toward whatever you choose. We’ll walk you through all of the options at your consultation so nothing is a surprise.
