Welcome to Portraits on the Parkway!
Thank you for booking your session!
We are so excited to see old friends and meet new ones at our 21st annual event. We will be creating your portraits on the beautiful grounds of the Moses Cone Estate. (Click on the link for directions to the estate.)
To make sure your session is completely stress-free and fun, we have put together a few quick tips.
How to Prepare for a Great Session
- Arrive 10 minutes early and ready. We work at a fun, fast pace with just a few minutes of transition time between families. We often work a bit ahead of schedule and rarely get behind.
- Full bellies and clean faces. Make sure your kids aren't hungry or thirsty when they arrive, and double-check that their faces and teeth are clean if they have eaten a snack on the way.
- Let us do the entertaining! Please avoid the urge to "coach" your kids into their best smiles while we are working with them. We have decades of experience coaxing natural expressions out of kids. The absolute best thing you can do is tell them we are going to have fun, and then simply step back and relax. Thank you for trusting our process!
- Where to park. Please park near the Carriage House, which is down from the white Manor House where the bathrooms are located. When you arrive, send a quick text to Bonnie at 336-682-0101 with your name to let us know you are there. Cell reception can be spotty, but we will be watching for you!
- Come rain or shine. If the weather is a complete washout, we will contact you by email or phone by 3:00 PM on the day of your session. Otherwise, we do not need perfect weather to create gorgeous portraits, and there are wonderful sheltered places for us to work.
What to Wear: The Blue Ridge Summer Palette
Wondering what your children should wear? The most important thing to consider is where you will be enjoying these portraits in your home. You want to choose clothing that reflects the colors and style of your living space!
To make it easy, we have created the Blue Ridge Summer Portrait Palette below. These soft neutrals, complementary blues and greens, and muted accent colors photograph beautifully against the natural backdrop of the Parkway.
A few quick clothing tips:
- Small prints, soft layers, and solid colors are great.
- Please avoid stark white, heavy black, big stripes, high-contrast plaids, and large logos.
- You can be as casual or dressed up as you like!
What Happens Next?
A separate email will be sent soon for you to schedule your private ordering appointment at our studio. All decision-makers should attend because this is your one chance to see your proofs projected on the big screen! Be sure to review our exclusive Portraits on the Parkway product and pricing guide before you arrive so you know exactly what to expect.
We are looking forward to another successful and fun event. See you soon!
