Proof Viewing/Ordering Appointment
Your portrait session is complete, what happens next? You'll come to our studio for a proof viewing and ordering appointment! We're experts at helping sort through images to find your favorites. We'll offer guidance and answer questions as you make your decisions. You are important to us and we want you to feel confident about your choices.
Here are the Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions:
Will I see all of the images from the portrait session?
If you did, we wouldn’t be doing our job as professional portrait artists! We thoughtfully curate all of the files we captured during your session into a set of proofs that will represent the better and best images from your session. We cull images that are out of focus, poorly exposed, eyes closed, etc. We adjust each image for color, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, optimal crop, etc. Depending on your session, you can expect to see 30-60 proofs. (Portraits on the Parkway Mini-Sessions will yield 6-12 proofs.)
When and where will I view my proofs?
We’ll schedule a session for you to come to our studio to see your proofs and place your order. Projecting your images onto a large screen will help you get an overview of your proofs and you’ll be able to compare images side-by-side, zooming in to see the details. We’ll guide you through the entire process and help you narrow down your favorites. A word of warning…the seating area in the proof viewing room has been referenced by some of our clients as the “crying couch” or “sobbing sofa”. But don’t worry! If seeing beautiful portraits of people you love makes you cry, we’ve got a box of tissues ready.
How do I place my order?

Do you have sales or discounts?
When you come to the studio to see your proofs, anything you invoice at that appointment will be discounted by 10%. It’s important to have all “decision makers” at your ordering appointment so that you can take advantage of this discount. We ask for a 50% deposit to begin your order. The remaining balance is due when your order is complete.
Can I have digital files to share on social media?
We know you’re excited about your portraits and we want you to share your enthusiasm with your friends and family world-wide! We’ll provide an Album APP with a select number of your favorite images that you’ll download to your mobile device. You’ll be able to email, text, and post to social media your portraits straight from the APP. Album APP images are lightly watermarked, sized for web use, and are not intended for print.
Will I receive a copy of my proofs?
Each full portrait session (excludes Portraits on the Parkway or Senior Portrait Group Sessions) will receive a spiral bound, 4x6” set of lightly watermarked, numbered proofs printed on photographic paper. The proof book is yours to keep.
How long do you keep my proofs on file?
We have portrait files archived as far back as the early 90’s from when the studio first opened. We take great effort to keep our files backed up and secure. The very best way to be sure to have the portraits you love kept “safe” is to have them professionally printed.
When will I receive my order?
Table Top Prints are ready within two weeks. Orders that include retouching will take anywhere from 4-8 weeks depending on our current workload. Rush orders are possible depending on our current workload and availability of materials such as framing.
Do you offer custom framing?
Yes! We have a wide variety of moldings and frames, prices and styles, including a line of frames built exclusively for our studio by a local craftsman. We offer frames from high-end, Italian moulding to more moderately priced options. Our framing prices are competitive.
Do you guarantee that I’ll love my printed portraits?
Absolutely! We’ll do everything we can to make your order perfect. If you aren’t totally satisfied, we will issue a refund. We respect the investment you are making and want you to cherish your portraits forever. "Almost" perfect isn't good enough for us!
